Quilt Patchwork Patterns

When piecing a quilt can I use denim and cotton fabric together in one block?

I got to thinking that the denim might be too heavy for the cotton what do you think?

  1. I DONT THINK SO, THE DENIM WON'T BE 2 HEAVY FOR THE COTTON IF YOU ASK ME BUT MY GRANDMA ALWAYS SAYS THAT DENIM IS NEVER ALWAYS 2 HEAVY 4 COTTON, I WOULD GO WITH MY GRANDMA BECAUSE SHE HAS MADE MORE QUILTS THEN ME AND HERS ALWAYS COME OUT BETTER
  2. If it's a good quilt shop quality cotton then it should do fine.
  3. The denim probably is made of cotton, and yes, you can use both in the same block.
  4. I like to use interfacing to thicken up the cotton so its weight will match the denim. The pieces seem to sew together better that way. Or you could just double it with plain cotton, whatever is handy.
