  1. Go to your local fabric/craft store and get iron-on transfer sheets of paper. Scan your pictures onto a computer and then print them out on this paper. Iron on the pictures to the fabric you are using to make the quilt. VIOLA!!! Pictured quilt!
  2. There is letter-sized fabric (most fabric stores will have it, or check www.joann.com ) that you can put in an inkjet printer and print your photos straight onto it.
  3. you use transfer printing to get the pictures onto the fabric. you might consider using something like iron-on hemming tape instead of some of the ribbons - you just need an iron and the fabric. think it will hold better than ribbons, over time. Check this site for using your own printer: http://nhnh.essortment.com/makephototrans_rjgg.htm This is good info if you want someone else to do the work: http://www.calicocreekquilts.com/photoquiltfaqs.htm Some beautiful images to give you ideas: http://images.google.com/images?q=photo+quilt&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all&sa=X&oi=images&ct=title AHA - what i was trying to remembe is IRON ON FUSIBLE INTERFACING - if you use this, you may be able to do EVERYTHING one would normally sew for your quilt, and use the ribbons when/where you want them for decoration or emphasis. this stuff is really easy to use.
  4. There is a huge JoAnn Fabrics Superstore in Brookfield (see the first link for a map). They will have photo transfer fabric that you can put through your printer. Ask the people working there - they're very helpful and can direct you to the stuff you need. The second link is to a no sew quilt that uses fabric, ribbons and cut out gingerbread men. Instead of the gingerbread men, just applique your printed photos using the same instructions.
