Applique?!?!?
I am wanting to make a simple appliqué wall hanging for my mother. A Christmas present. She loves stuff like that. I have made a quilt but never appliqué. I am trying to find a pattern and instructions online for free. I have enough material and I'm low in money this year.. Any good sites that include this for free??? Thanks

- I don't have a website, but can tell you how I applique. I make a lot of appliqued quilts. You'll need fabric, Wonder Under (or some type of fusible webbing with sticky on both sides), scissors and an iron. Choose your design and trace onto "paper side" of fusible webbing. Cut it out. Turn your fabric over so the wrong side is facing up. Iron your cut out on to fabric with the paper side facing up. Again cut out design. Peel away the paper backing from the webbing and place cut out design, shiney side or right side up in place. Iron down. You may then stitch the edges of the pattern with a zig zag or blanket stich or any stitch you like. Some folks use fabric paint for the edges and some us nothing. I personally like to sew my with a tight zig zag. Some tips I've learned over the years. Don't use a steam feature if your iron has one and wait until the paper cools before trying to peel it off. I hope this helps and have fun!!! Ok, I lied, here's a couple of sites with pics and instructions, LOL.... http://etsylabs.blogspot.com/.../tutorial-making-and-applying-appliques.html http://craftandfabriclinks.com/appshirt/appshirt.html
