What is best to use to make a floor blanket/quilt for a baby?

I'm using cotton for the top, flannel for the backing, but I am not sure what is best for inside: cotton batting, or just another layer of flannel? This is for a FLOOR blanket. Thanks

  1. Use the batting, it will make if alot softer.
  2. Cotton batting is the best ... trust me out of the10 quilts i've made the ones with cotton are more liked by babies!!! :)
  3. Most people use batting for hardwood type, but for carpets (and the most common type purchased by crafters) is flannel for the inside. It isn't too hot, doesn't get too dusty and is easy to clean. If you do choose batting, be sure to air it out regularly by swatting it outside to release dust etc. You may want to do a duvet-type cover to clean it rather than taking it to the cleaners.
  4. Batting over another layer of flannel is always preferable. Especially if it's going to be on the floor. Would you rather sit on batting or on flannel? I'd rather have the cusion of batting.
