Baby quilt. Can I have your opinion about these colors?

I am making a baby quilt with "cowboy colors". Deep brown Canberry Rich gold Medium hunter green These fabrics make up a four patch and have slightly different patterns but all of them have a Swede look. (100% cotton) They will be off-set with a medium light swede looking green. (This gives it a very "cheery" up-beat look) I think it looks very sharp, but my daughter thinks it looks too "old" for a baby. Do you think I should make one with common little boy colors instead? Just needing some opinions. I know its hard without actually looking at it, but .........tell me what you think. OH, it is for a baby boy. I want to thank EVERYBODY for you input. I will continue on the path that I begain. I may use a cowboy print on the boarder and for the back of the quilt as well!!!

1. i'm not so sure they'd be good for a baby...but the colors would look beautiful together! very country...
2. sounds pretty! go with the colors you mentioned, the "classic" boy colors are overdone, and yours will be something special and unique!
3. I would have to see the finished product before I could really say anything but for now I would say that those colors are fine.
4. I think that will be great - the colors are a bit masculine (as opposed to baby-ish) but that way the quilt will grow with him. He'll be able to use it for a long time.
5. I think it is going to be beautiful. By making it not generic baby colors, this could be something he hangs onto his whole life. Who knows, maybe even something he takes to college with him....passes on to his kids? I like it.
6. I think that those colors would look great together. Non traditional, but the perfect colors to compliment one another.
7. They are kind of dark, but then again we are used to seeing baby colors in pastels. I think it's your baby, you should do what you want and what makes you happy.
8. I say go for it. Colors may NOT be exactly baby colors but he will have this quilt for some time to come and probably end up being very special to him as he grows!!
9. personally, i would tend to go to little boy colors. the colors sound quite nice, but toys, etc are made in colors to attract the baby's attention...i.e. red...yellow..blue...etc. this seems to be more made for an older person. textures are a good idea, though.
10. colours are great and that is extremely beautiful that you are doin gthat for the baby. I like how it how a theme too. VERY CUTE and just plain adorable! Maybe if your daughter still thinks it looks old try to make it reversible..now that would be kick butt, lol.
11. I think the colours are all very dark and would look nice with one pastel colour. What about removing the brown and replacing it with either cream or white. Stay on the unusual path and dont do the common baby colours.
12. I think the bold colors are a great idea. Babies will be able to see darker colors first anyway. It will give him something to look at and focus on.

14. i say keep those colors. sounds like a great combination. I still use my baby quilt everyonce in a while. but only when there isnt any company in the house cause you can tell that it is a baby quilt by the colors. it is so soft and comfortable but i feel strange using it around company. this way he can use as an adult if he wants to.
15. I think the colors sound really good! You could add a block using a lighter whimsical cowboy print in it if you are unsure and want to make it feel like it is more for a child...maybe a vintage reprint of ropes or horses with a similar color scheme? I think Jo-Ann's has some "cowboy" typa prints right now. :) Good luck!
16. It sounds like you have a great eye for colors which work well together. Who is the quilt for? Your daughter's son, or someone else? Although the primary concern should be whether the child will like it, in reality mothers often decide how children's rooms will be accessorized, and what will be packed away. I can imagine many mothers would be delighted to have something a little different for their child, particularly if they were into a western theme. There would also be mothers who wouldn't care for it. As for the baby himself, although children have a reputation for being attracted to bright colors, they also get attachments to a variety of things that don't fit into a preconceived mold. I can imagine a little boy being very grateful, as he grew older, that his "lovey" didn't have "baby colors", so it wasn't something he had to hide away and be embarrassed about when friends came over. Finally, there are the intangible qualities you're putting in to it - love and time. No matter which color scheme you use, those qualities will come shining through, and those are the most wonderful gifts of all.
17. shes right, get cowboy prints and make your quilt of that, children need pictures to stimulate the brain, i did one for lily that was 4 different cat prints and two different paw prints.
