What are fun ways to make personalized quilt blocks? I want to make 12X12 inch quilt blocks and need some fun creative ideas. I have never done this before, but want to personalize each block. This will be an Xmas gift and I don't have a lot of spare time so I am not looking for time consuming ideas. Ideas? I know I can search the net, but what have some of you done to personalize and make special quilts? Will be for a five year old niece.

How do you make a quilt heavy? or How do you make a heavy quilt? I want to make a quilt, but I want it to be heavy. I have thought of using heavy fabrics, but I want it to be heavy as well as warm. Any ideas or suggestions on how I should go about making a heavy quilt that will keep me warm as well? A particular type of batting maybe? Certain types of fabrics? Thanks all!

What is the best way to launder a vintage hand-stitched quilt top? I bought an old quilt top today, and before I work with it, it will need to be cleaned. It has one small hole in one of the squares, and I've counted two small seams that will need to be re-enforced, but otherwise it seems to be intact. (The pieces are hand stictched, but are fairly tight.) What is the best way to clean it without doing it damage?

Does anyone know how to make a Pinwheel Quilt using the pinwheel gadgets? I saw a pattern for this about 30 years ago and bought the pinwheel gadget but now that I am finally determined to give it a go at making one, I find that my husband has thrown out all the magazines I had stored (including the one that had this pattern in it). This type of quilt is made using the gadget to make a kizillion little pinwheels which then get sewn or crocheted (I don't remember) together. Can anyone help please? I've just been told it's not a pinwheel - it's a DAISY WHEEL. Does that help anyone?

making a quilt out of baby clothes. can i just make squares? I just made a disney princess small quilt using squares of solid and disney princess. sewed the strips together and then made the border and tacked a back to it. I dont know if this is the proper way to do it but was wondering if i could do the same when using square cut outs of my daughters clothing? They also are not all the same size there are about 4 larger ones then the rest can i use this as a center some how? any answers would be appreciated.

I need advice on how to make a care label for a baby quilt? I was thinking about cutting a 2" X 3" rectangle of light-colored fabric using pinking shears, writing the care directions with a permanent marker, and sewing that rectangle on the backing of the quilt (before it gets sewn on the quilt top, so that the thread doesnt show) using a zig-zag stitch.
